Boston 6.5″ Refoam Kit
This kit will fit many Boston 6.5″ speaker models that have an angled attachment to cone. Check for correct dimensions..
These are very unique surrounds because the angled part that attaches to the cone is straight. See close up of the picture to see. Model #’s include A40 series 1 & II and many more.
*On some of the series II woofers you will need to trim 1/8″ off the outside of the new surround with a scissors for it to fit in the recessed lip of the basket.
Each Refoam Kit includes all the materials needed to repair two (2) woofers:
– Refoaming Instructions
– 2 Foam Surrounds
– Shims For Centering the 1″ Voice Coils (if selected)
– Two 2.25″ Screen (thin fabric) Dust Caps (if selected)
– 1 Tube of Specially Formulated Foam Surround Adhesive. Choose white glue for paper cones or poly glue for poly cone woofers.
*It can be difficult to refoam a speaker without removing the dust cap and inserting the plastic shims. The plastic shims are used to center the voice coil and cone assembly while the speaker is being refoamed. If you do not use the plastic shims, the voice coil may be off center and it may lead to the voice coil rubbing. If you want to leave the original caps on, you can try to center it by hand.
A – Outside diameter of the surround = 5.95″
B – Roll ends = 5.375″
C – Roll starts / O.D. of the cone = 4.625″
D – Inside diameter of the surround = 4.4″
