Acoustic Research AR9 Complete Refoam Kit
This is the correct kit that fits on the 12″ woofers and the 8″ mid-basses.
Each Refoam Kit includes all the materials needed to repair two (2) mids and four (4) woofers:
– Refoaming Instructions
– Two 8″ and Four 12″ Foam Surrounds
– Shims For Centering the 1.5″ Voice Coils for the mids
– Shims For Centering the 2″ Voice Coils for the woofers
– Two 3.25″ Screen (thin fabric) Dust Caps for the mids
– Four 2.75″ Screen (thin fabric) Dust Caps for the woofers
– 1 Big Bottle of Specially Formulated Foam Surround Adhesive
***PLEASE READ. It can be difficult to refoam a speaker without removing the dust cap and inserting the plastic shims. The plastic shims are used to center the voice coil and cone assembly while the speaker is being refoamed. If you do not use the plastic shims, the voice coil may be off center and it may lead to the voice coil rubbing. The 8″ mid-bass has a paper dust cap under the screen dust cap, so you can either center it by hand (not cutting off the screen dust cap and not using shims) or what we do is cut the screen dust cap off first, then cut the paper dust cap almost off (u shape), flip it up and insert the shims. When the refoam is done, remove the shims, glue back down the paper dust cap and then glue down the new 3.25″ screen dust cap that is provided with the kit.
12″ Woofer
A – Outside diameter of the surround = 10.375″
B – Roll ends = 9.75″
C – Roll starts / O.D. of the cone = 8.375″
D – Inside diameter of the surround = 8″
8″ Mid-Bass
A – Outside diameter of the surround = 7.75″
B – Roll ends = 6.938″
C – Roll starts / O.D. of the cone = 6″
D – Inside diameter of the surround = 5.5″
